RiPROCESS version 1.9.3 is available now!

(28.11.2022)

We are pleased to announce the release of the latest version of our kinematic LiDAR data processing software RiPROCESS!

Benefit from RiPROCESS 1.9.3 and the associated programs and tools when processing your RIEGL kinematic laser scan data!

Automation of Trajectory Processing

The RiPROCESS Data Processing Wizard comes with a new feature for automated trajectory processing. With the inclusion of Applanix’ posbatch in the wizard, all parameters for trajectory processing can be set in a posbatch file in the RiPROCESS environment. The parameter file is stored for later use, thus minimizing the manual interaction efforts for repeatedly processing data from the same lidar system. Due to the scripting capabilities of the RiPROCESS Data Processing Wizard, trajectory processing can now be included in automated workflows.

Bathymetry

The new version of the RIEGL HydroTools have undergone a complete revamp, making this release more robust and tighter integrated in RiPROCESS than ever before. Performance has been boosted by improved processing of the refraction correction in complex mixed water and terrain scenarios.

In addition to the sequential waveform averaging method, a spatial waveform stacking method has been introduced. By averaging waveforms, the signal to noise ratio is increased, thus improving the ground return detectability. The new method of spatial waveform stacking takes a spatially restricted selection of waveforms into account, best representing the local target situation.

Data Storage

RiPROCESS central data format RDB has been augmented to support named values for point classes. The meaning of point classes beyond the commonly accepted ASPRS LAS specification, was widely undocumented up to now. To address this, RIEGL includes a list of class codes and names within the RDB point cloud file created by RiPROCESS, making it easier for third party application to access this information.

Data Export

This release introduces the new highly flexible and adaptable Data Export Wizard for kinematic point cloud data. Data can be exported to any coordinate reference system supported in the GeoSysManager database. It provides support for writing out LAS/LAZ 1.2 and 1.4, plain text ASCII, and RDB.

Highlights are the customizable export destinations and file naming conventions making it easy to create datasets fulfilling external folder constraints.

A new tiling option allows to create data tiles by numeric parameters, or predefined boundaries provided by SHP files.

And last but not least, a highly improved data filter allows to build individual filter rule sets by any available point attribute to adopt the content of the point cloud to your customer’s needs.
